In 1997, the company began operations and opened a repair workshop in Latin America, featuring 1,200 m² of fully equipped facilities and specialized technical staff to provide maintenance services for high-speed rotating equipment serving the national industry.

In 1998, the SIMCO Consortium was formed, made up of four major companies: Wood Group (Operations & Maintenance), WGGTV, Clariant, and CAMSA Construction (owned by Mr. Edward Méndez through MEIN Financial Group C.A.). Together, they were awarded a 16-year long-term contract to maintain Water Injection Plants, including a fleet of more than 40 gas turbines and multistage centrifugal pumps for the oil industry in the country’s western region.

In 2010, WGGTV ceased operations in Latin America and closed its specialized workshop. Negotiations then began, ultimately leading to the acquisition and transfer of its assets and technologies through MEIN Financial Group C.A. In 2015, the company and branch Gas Turbines Integrated Services Limited (GTIS LTD) were established under MEIN Group C.A. through the acquisition of Gas Turbines Integrated Services Ltd., an International Business Company (IBC) formerly known as Wood Group Gas Turbines Limited, which had been a Wood Group subsidiary. This milestone enabled the relaunch of power generation equipment replacement and repair projects, building on a strong track record dating back to 1997.

In 2015, concurrently, GAS TURBINES INTEGRATED USA, LLC (GTIS LLC) was registered in the State of Texas, United States of America, to initiate support operations from its initial North American headquarters. In February 2024, the Gas Turbines Integrated Services group consolidated its efforts, processes, procedures, and organizational structure, launching a new corporate identity under the name GRUPO GTIS. This initiative was established with the sole purpose of delivering specialized services to companies located in Latin America, beginning with the acquisition of contracts in Ecuador.
